About Alice Gorman
Scenic Rim, Queensland, Australia
I’m a journalist, mum, farmer’s wife and rabid vegetable nut enthusiast. This blog charts the ups and downs that come when a city girl marries a vegetable farmer and moves to the country.
Farmer has a Wife is a great outlet for my thoughts, a vehicle to partake in a spot of husband bashing and a place to promote the people who live in the country and who have such great stories.
In my ‘day job’ I write about families for the Gold Coast Bulletin, about farmers and fresh food for the Sunday Mail’s Homeground section, about horticulture for Queensland Country Life and about tourism for www.visitscenicrim.com.au
I also freelance for various publications on a range of topics.
In life before children, husbands and vegetables I won a Walkley Award for journalism. It now collects dust in the spare room and is proving to be an effective book-end. On really disastrous days, as I wrangle screaming children, duck flying Bionicles and negotiate with my terrorists children, I remember fondly the ‘good old days’.
If you want to know anything about life in a rural town, how to grow vegetables or where to buy great carrots send me an email alice@gormanmedia.com.au
